On April 30, 2012 the FCC released a Public Notice announcing that applications for the Lifeline Broadband Pilot Program are due on July 2, 2012. The FCC will distribute $25m to selected applicants who are willing to provide subsidized broadband to low-income consumers for a 12-month trial period. The FCC is looking for "field experiment" projects and diverse projects that incorporate digital literacy, discounted equipment, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
