Zayo Extends Fiber Network into Louisville

Zayo Group announces it will expand its fiber network throughout southern Indiana and into metro Louisville, Kentucky. The build is Zayo’s entrance into the Louisville market adding 60 new route miles and six buildings on-net. With these additional route miles, Zayo’s fiber network in the region totals more than 700 miles.

This 60-mile metro Louisville fiber ring will connect Zayo’s long haul network in Louisville to suburban towns including Jeffersontown, Middletown, Sycamore and Rolling Hills in Kentucky and across the Ohio River into Jeffersonville and New Albany in Indiana. Zayo will provide Dark Fiber, Ethernet and Wavelengths services to the area. The build is scheduled to be complete by end of third quarter 2012.

Zayo Completes Arialink Michigan Network Buy

Zayo Group announced it completed its transaction to purchase Arialink, adding 930 new route miles to the Zayo Network, including 400 miles of dense metro networks in Lansing and Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Michigan network will provide Ethernet, dark fiber and optical transport services across a 437 on-net building footprint in Michigan. The acquisition also provides Zayo with a regional long haul network and connectivity to smaller markets in central Michigan.

Recently, Arialink began construction of a 190-mile network to interconnect major healthcare facilities as part of an FCC grant to the Michigan Public Health Institute, supporting connectivity to healthcare facilities in rural Michigan and bringing broadband services to underserved communities.

The acquisition was funded with cash consideration of $18M, excluding assets and customers related to residential services. Arialink's residential business has been spun out to the previous Arialink owners and will operate under the name Spectrum.

Zayo Completes 360networks Integration

Zayo Group announces the completion of the 360networks’ long haul network integration. The resulting combined network doubles Zayo’s national network reach, providing coast-to-coast connectivity spanning 45,400 route miles in 42 states and over 70 metro markets. 

The integration of the two networks links deep metro assets like Denver, Phoenix, Spokane, Las Vegas and others to a broad national footprint for end-to-end connectivity.

Completion of this integration allows Zayo to offer IP, Wavelengths and Ethernet across the entire Zayo footprint.  Carriers, content providers, media and wireless customers can work with Zayo to design a custom high-bandwidth long haul and metro solutions.

Hibernia Atlantic Selects Zayo for Colocation and Interconnection Services

zColo, a Zayo Group Company, announced that it will provide a private customized suite and interconnection services for Hibernia Atlantic US, LLC at 165 Halsey, Newark, NJ. Hibernia Atlantic operates a global network connecting North America, Europe and Asia with its own submarine and terrestrial network between the United States, Canada and Europe.  

Offering a full range of network services to the wholesale, financial and media sectors, Hibernia Atlantic operates a next generation network with over 120 points of presence throughout the globe. Interconnecting at a facility, such as 165 Halsey, enables both Zayo and Hibernia Atlantic to extend their solutions to a variety of clients and partners. With this connectivity, Hibernia can provide proximity based hosting solutions together with its bandwidth offerings to meet additional network requirements.

Zayo Completes Nashville, Tennessee Fiber Build

Zayo announces that it has completed construction of its fiber network expansion in Nashville, TN.  Through this build, Zayo has nearly doubled the fiber route mileage in the greater Nashville area to 104 miles. These additional miles will allow Zayo to serve the markets of Franklin, Brentwood and Oak Hill with dark fiber, Ethernet and wavelength services. 

In addition to the Nashville network project, Zayo offers it metro and longhaul services in Johhnson City and Kingsport and has recently completed expansions in Memphis including extending its fiber-to-the-tower (FTT) network into Northern Mississippi. Zayo also operates carrier-neutral colocation facilities in Nashville and Memphis to securely house customer equipment and provide access to a broad range of carrier networks.
