Sprint Annnounces Device to Combine 4G Connections Over LTE and WiMax

Sprint (NYSE:S) and Sierra Wireless (Nasdaq:SWIR) announced the May 18 availability of a device to combine 4G connections over LTE and WiMAX networks, Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi Hotspot for the Sprint network. Sierra Wireless Tri-Fi Hotspot provides the combination of speed and coverage to Sprint customers as the upcoming 4G LTE network expands.

Beginning May 18, customers will be able to purchase a Sierra Wireless Tri-Fi Hotspot for $99.99 (excluding taxes) after a $50 mail-in-rebate with a two-year service agreement.

Sprint data plans for the device start at $34.99 for 3GB of combined 3G/4G data while on the Sprint network. Customers also can choose the $49.99 plan with 6GB of combined 3G/4G data or $79.99 for 12GB of 3G/4G data, which deliver 20 percent more data for the same price as AT&T and Verizon’s similar plans.

Sprint Awarded $2 Billion Contract with Western States Contracting Alliance

Sprint (NYSE: S) announced that the Western States Contracting Alliance (WSCA) has awarded Sprint a four-year, $2 billion contract to serve as one of its wireless products and services providers. The contract with WSCA, a national public sector purchasing consortium, represents one of the largest for Sprint in 2012.

The WSCA purchasing consortium is composed of 15 states that have joined together for increased buying power through cooperative multistate contracting. State and local government entities (including public safety, public education, health care and utilities) and authorized non-profit organizations across the country use WSCA’s purchasing capabilities.

Sprint Extends Sprint Direct Connect Internationally

Sprint (NYSE:S) announced the launch of International Direct Connect on Sprint Direct Connect, Sprint’s broadband push-to-talk service on its CDMA network. Initially, users can directly connect – at the press of a button – to iDEN international push-to-talk users in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile. Sprint Direct Connect users can make dialed phone calls to anywhere in the world.

Pricing for International Direct Connect includes an optional $10 per month unlimited international push-to-talk calling plan.

Sprint Offers Wholesale Cloud Services

Sprint (NYSE:S) Wholesale and Emerging Solutions announced the availability of Wholesale Cloud Services later this year. Sprint Wholesale Cloud Services provides SMB-focused resellers an approach by offering a unique combination of platform services, a full suite of enablement applications and one-on-one support from experienced and dedicated experts to help them launch more quickly and with less capital outlay than if they were to create the service themselves.

Taking multi-vendor hosted software services bundled with a software delivery platform and packaging both into a single business solution, the Sprint Wholesale Cloud Services portfolio will become a one-stop shop aimed at increasing revenues for Wholesale customers, while delivering cost savings and efficient access to enterprise-grade applications for their SMB customer base. Sprint Wholesale Cloud Services will be available to any SMB-focused reseller – even if they are not a Sprint Wholesale customer.

Elevate Expands Sprint Relationship to Include Access to 4G WiMAX Network

Elevate, Inc. (ELEV.OB) announced that it has expanded its existing MVNO agreement with Sprint to include access to Sprint's 4G (WiMAX) wireless network. Elevate signed a 3G MVNO agreement in December 2011, enabling it to provide wireless over the Sprint 3G Network, which reaches 282 million consumers (including roaming). The 4G (WiMAX) amendments will allow Elevate to expand its portfolio of services to include fixed and mobile broadband delivery, significantly enhancing Elevate's suite of services for 120 million consumers in 71 markets across the U.S.

A key component of the original agreement is Elevate's ability to offer services on both a prepaid and postpaid basis, a feature that will extend into 4G (WiMAX) fixed and mobile broadband services as well.

Velocity Internet, LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Elevate, Inc. is the contracting party
